Das Spiel der koreanischen Solo-Violinistin ist bekannt für ihre virtuose Technik, die zarten Klangfarben und gefühlvollen Interpretationen. 

Geboren in Seoul, Südkorea, begann Dr. Sunok Lee ihr Violinstudium im Alter von 13 Jahren und wurde prompt an der Universität für Musik und Darstellende Kunst in Wien  aufgenommen, wo sie bei Klaus Maetzl  das Konzertfach Violine absolvierte.

 

Innerhalb weniger Jahre hatte sie bereits Auftritte mit mehreren Orchestern absolviert.  Ihre Darbietungen in Übersee und in ganz Europa umfassten Radio- und Fernsehübertragungen, Aufnahmen und Soli mit Orchestern und Kammermusik-Konzerte. Bekannt ist Sunok Lee auch als facettenreiche und emotionale Rezitalistin. Zu ihrem umfangreichen Repertoire zählen gleichermaßen Sonaten als auch die großen Meisterwerke des Geigenspiels.  Als Kammermusikerin arbeitet Mag.Sunok Lee mit zahlreichen hervorragenden Musikern zusammen.

Ihre Konzerttourneen und musikalischen Kooperationen brachten Mag.Sunok Lee nach Monte Carlo, Japan, Italien, Österreich, Deutschland, Frankreich, Spanien, Kroatien, Slowenien, Rumänien, Ungarn, Bulgarien und Korea. 

Ihre musikalische Entwicklung wurde entscheidend geprägt von  Zakhar Bron , Pavel Vernikov , Vladimir Spivakov , Klaus Maetzl und dem internationalen Star-Dirigenten Maestro Riccardo Muti.

The Play of the Korean solo violinist ist known for her virtuoso technique, the delicate timbres and soulful interpretations. 

Born in Seoul,south Korea,Korea Lee began her violin studies at age 13 and promptly enrolled in the University for music and performing arts,vienna,where she studied with Klaus Maetzl.Within few years later she had already performed with several orchestras in Europe. 

 

Though her performances overseas and throughout Europe have included radio and television broadcasts, recordings, solos with orchestras and chamber music concerts, she is known as a colorful emmotional recitalist. Her recital programs invariably include shorter works, of which she is so fond, as well as the larger masterpieces of the violin repertory.

 

As a chamber musician Korea Lee works with nummerous excellent musicians.Her recital tours and concert collaborations will take her to Monte Carlo, Japan, Italy, Austria, Germany, France ,Spain, Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria and Korea Her musical development has been decisively influenced by Zakhar Bron, Pavel Vernikov, Vladimir Spivakov, Klaus Maetzl and by International Conductor Maestro Riccardo Muti.

Dissertation Sunok Lee: 

Karrierewege von Geigerinnen – Vergleich Klassik und Pop

 

Abstract:

 

Die Dissertation beschäftigt sich mit Karrierewegen von Künstler_innen unter besonderer Berücksichtigung von Faktoren, die sich positiv oder negativ auf einen Einstieg in das Berufsleben als professioneller Musiker/professionelle Musikerin auswirken. Im Vordergrund stehen dabei Absolvent_innen der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, insbesondere Violinistinnen. Oftmals eröffnet sich – ungeachtet ihrer langjährigen Ausbildung – nicht annähernd die berufliche Laufbahn, die sie sich am Anfang ihres Studiums erhofft haben. Im Zentrum der Dissertation steht die Transkription und Auswertung von Interviews, die sowohl mit Musiker_innen, die ihr Karriereziel erreicht haben, als auch mit Absolvent_innen geführt wurden, die ihre ursprünglichen beruflichen Pläne noch nicht realisieren konnten. Der Interviewleitfaden konzentriert sich einerseits auf die Ausbildung und den Karrierestart, andererseits auf Förderstrukturen und Strategien, die das Gelingen einer Karriere vorantreiben sollen. In diesem Zusammenhang wird der Bereich „Klassik“ mit dem „Pop-Business“ verglichen. Darüber hinaus werden auch Gespräche mit anderen Expert_innen des Feldes geführt (Management, Agenturen, Veranstalter_innen, Direktionen, ...) und im Rahmen der Dissertation analysiert. Zusätzlich wird auf den Gender-Aspekt fokussiert. Ausgehend von feministischen Theorien und unter Einbeziehung auch koreanischer Literatur wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich das Geschlecht auf die Karriere auswirkt, welche Benachteiligungen junge Künstlerinnen zu vergegenwärtigen haben und welche Strategien besonders Frauen einsetzen, um sich in diesem Metier beruflich zu verwirklichen. Dabei geht es auch um die kritische Auseinandersetzung mit Themen wie: „Kriterien der Entscheidungen von Gatekeeper_innen“ oder „Rolle von Sexappeal als Aspekt der Performance“ etc. Ein weiterer Bereich der wissenschaftlichen Erhebung und Auswertung bezieht sich auf die qualitative Analyse einer Tagebuchdokumentation der Verfasserin, die auf Erfahrungen bei Wettbewerben bezüglich Vermarktungsstrategien einer Künstlerpersönlichkeit zurückgreift. Bei der qualitativen Analyse des Forschungsmaterials sollen auch mögliche Karriere-Nischen in musikalisch-stilistischer Hinsicht diskutiert werden.  

The dissertation treats career paths of artists with special consideration of factors that influence positively or negatively the entrance into professional life as a musician. Foremost in consideration are graduates of the Vienna University of Music and Representative Art, female violinists in particular. Despite hopes aspired to at the start of a course of study, a professional path often fails to open up or reveal itself, regardless of the many years of education. The dissertation makes central use of the transcription and evaluation of interviews both of musicians who have reached their career aims and of graduates whose original career aims could not be realized. The interview script concentrates on the one hand on the education and the career start, and on the other hand on the support structure and strategies which ought to bring about success in a career. In conjunction with this, the career realm of “classical” is compared to that of “pop”. Furthermore, conversations with other area experts are conducted (management, agents, producers, directors, ...) and analyzed. The dissertation additionally provides focus on gender aspects. From perspectives of feminist theory and also in conjunction with Korean literature, the dissertation considers how gender affects the female musician’s career. What disadvantages young artists must expect and which strategies women must employ in particular in order to bring about a sustainable career. In treating this topic, critical examination of questions like “decision criteria of gatekeepers” and “role of sex-appeal as aspect of performance” is conducted. A further area of scientific study and analysis in the dissertation involves the qualitative analysis of a diary of the author. The diary elaborates her experiences at competitions with respect to strategies used to market her personality as an artist. The qualitative analysis of the research material also allows discussion of possible career niches in musical-stylistic terms. After all, alongside the classical repertoire young female violinists also have available realms such as chamber music, old music, new music, and crossover with rock and jazz.
